TWAS Research Grants Programme in Basic Sciences: Individuals
The TWAS Research Grants Programme in Basic Sciences was established in response to the needs of researchers in developing countries, particularly those attached to institutions that lack appropriate research facilities. Under this scheme, grants can be awarded for research projects in biology, chemistry, mathematics and physics either to individual young researchers, or to research units in the science-and-technology-lagging countries (S&TLC) identified by TWAS, to enable them to purchase the research facilities they need to enhance their productivity.Apply here: https://www.twas.org/opportunity/twas-research-grants-programme-basic-sciences-individuals?utm_source=RUFORUM+Mailing+List&utm_campaign=aa9dc3b427-RUFORUM+Weekly+-+Vol.3+No.25_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_1fcfbb8a0b-aa9dc3b427-346981101&ct=t()&goal=0_1fcfbb8a0b-aa9dc3b427-346981101&mc_cid=aa9dc3b427&mc_eid=2397799980

CFP: Jesuit Studies at Sixteenth Century Society, Portland, OR 30 October - 1 November 2025
CFP: Jesuit Studies panels at the Sixteenth Century Society (SCS) annual Conference, 30 October-1 November, 2025 at the Hilton Portland Downtown Hotel in Portland, Oregon, USA.
The 2025 annual meeting will be held in person. A submission at this stage assumes a commitment to attending an in-person conference. All conference participants must also join the Sixteenth Century Society.
The Journal of Jesuit Studies sponsors panels and round tables at SCS to promote global Jesuit studies in different academic disciplines. Please submit abstracts on topics related to the study of Jesuits in art or architectural history, digital humanities, global/international studies, history, history of science and medicine, literature, or religion and theology, focusing on Jesuits around the world in the early modern period, of no more than 250 words, along with a short list of keywords, and a BRIEF CV (no more than 300 words, including affiliation, rank and one or two important publications or other evidence of scholarship) to Kathleen Comerford, kcomerfo@georgiasouthern.edu, no later than Tuesday, April 8, 2025. Please follow instructions carefully, as the submissions module does not allow flexibility of interpretation.
The SCS is a conference focused on global early modern (c.1450-c.1750) scholarship in a variety of fields (including Art & Architectural History, Digital Humanities, English Literature, French Literature, German Studies, History, History of Science & Medicine, Interdisciplinary Studies, Italian Studies, Pedagogy and Professionalization, Spanish, Portuguese, and Latin American Studies, and Religion and Theology). Members present papers or posters, or engage in round-table discussions. For more information, see www.sixteenthcentury.org/conference.
The SCS encourages the participation of international scholars and warmly welcomes early career researchers and postgraduates to the academic community. The SCS is a not-for-profit scholarly organization and therefore receives no governmental or institutional funding, and therefore cannot cover the costs of participation. The Journal of Jesuit Studies is also unable to offer funding. In order to participate in this conference, delegates or their sponsoring institutions or organizations will need to fund travel and lodging expenses in addition to a per-delegate registration fee (there is a reduced rate for registered students). Advance registration online is recommended. For an additional administrative charge, registration may also be completed at the meeting. Please note that conference registration fees are non-refundable. The fee supports conference facilities, general events at the conference, membership to the SCS, and one year’s subscription to the Sixteenth Century Journal.
